The GTA 6 mapping project is a fan reconstruction of Leonida. It is not a Rockstar product, not a store listing, and not a file you should treat as first-party cartography. Fans watch official footage, collect public names, and draw. Credit them. Do not steal their maps, and do not slap a Rockstar logo on the result.

Official geography still lives on Rockstar’s VI hub and on our map, locations, and Leonida pages. Leak dumps are a different problem: see map leaks. The homepage countdown is for November 19, 2026, not for a fan tile set going “gold.”

Official Rockstar Games GTA VI artwork. Setting depicted is Leonida / Vice City (United States-inspired).

Fan made, not first-party

Community mappers do useful work. They pause trailers, match coastlines, and argue about where a highway probably sits. That is hobby cartography. It can be careful. It can also be wrong in ways that only launch day will prove.

WhenGTA6 will not rehost a fan atlas as if we drew it, and we will not pretend Rockstar blessed it. If you share those maps, name the project as fan made. If a YouTube thumbnail says “LEAKED OFFICIAL MAP” over a community poster, that caption is the problem.

Rockstar’s own line is short: biggest GTA map yet, state of Leonida, no official square miles. Fan rulers on a screenshot are estimates. They do not become official because a lot of people retweeted the same overlay.

Official names the fans are working from

The confirmed container is Leonida. Inside it, official materials have named six regions. That is the skeleton a honest fan map should start from.

Vice CityOfficialCity inside the state, not the whole map

Port GellhornOfficialNamed region
AmbrosiaOfficialNamed region
GrassriversOfficialNamed region
Mount Kalaga National ParkOfficialNamed region

Fan-inferred streetsCommunityLabel as inferred

Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos are the confirmed leads who live in this place. They do not add cities. Trailer 1 (December 5, 2023), Trailer 2 (May 2025), and An Extended Look (August 27, 2026) are the official motion fans should prefer over stolen stills.

Why leaked files are a different problem

A mapping project that traces official artwork and public trailers is community scholarship. A zip of stolen development data is not. This site will not host leak archives so mappers can “work faster.” Describe leaks at a high level. Point people at official footage.

If a fan map quietly baked leak tiles into the poster, say so when you talk about it, or do not treat the poster as clean. Mixing the two is how “fan project” becomes a laundering step for files Rockstar never posted.

Take-Two is the publisher of the game, not of the fan chart. Do not email them for a mapping-project patch.

How to use a fan map without treating it as canon

Use it as a conversation piece: where Vice City might sit relative to the Keys, how large the park looks next to the port. Then keep a second column in your head for official names only. When Rockstar adds a label after launch, the fan map should move, not the other way around.

Launch is November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. PC is unannounced. Preload starts November 12. After you can drive the real roads, community charts become history and comparison, which is a fine second life for a fan project.

Until then, enjoy the rebuild, credit the people who drew it, and keep this sentence attached: not Rockstar. For the clean list, stay on the map guide. For the wait, stay on the countdown.
