This page is about Grand Theft Auto VI Online. It is not the GTA V Online release date. GTA V Online launched on 1 October 2013.
Is GTA 6 going to have online at launch? Rockstar has not announced a dated GTA Online VI product. The game on sale for November 19, 2026 is the Grand Theft Auto VI story set in Leonida, starring Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. GTA V shipped multiplayer shortly after its story launch. That history is not a VI launch day, and Leonida Afterhours will not invent one.

What is actually on sale November 19
Rockstar’s VI hub and the buy page sell Standard at $79.99 USD and Ultimate at $99.99 USD. Those SKUs are the campaign and, for Ultimate, extra digital items. They are not a dated “GTA Online VI launches the same night” card.
Digital copies that are bought before November 20, 2026 include one month of GTA+. GTA+ is a subscription Rockstar already runs around GTA V Online. A month of GTA+ is not proof that a new Online map boots on November 19. Preload on November 12 is a story-game download window, not an Online beta.
Preview hosts later said Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson ruled out an in-game cash shop for the campaign. That reported answer lives on the microtransactions page. It still does not date Online, and it does not publish a VI Shark Card list.
For lobby questions (player count, heists, drop-in), use multiplayer. For PlayStation talking to Xbox, use crossplay. Both are unannounced. For whether the story needs a live connection after install, use can you play GTA 6 offline. For the calendar, use the release date page.
GTA V history is not a VI schedule
People remember 2013: story first, Online shortly after. Take-Two still reports GTA V Online as a live business. That revenue fact explains why Rockstar cares about Online. It does not publish a VI Online weekday.
We will not write “Online arrives in December 2026” or “week two” to fill the silence. If Rockstar later dates a VI Online mode, this page updates the same day we can cite Take-Two or Rockstar. Until then, “is GTA 6 going to have online” is answered with: not announced as a dated launch product.
Dual protagonists are a single-player design. Switching between Jason and Lucia is not couch co-op and is not a four-player lobby. Do not merge those ideas.

Confirmed features stays first-party. An Extended Look on August 27, 2026 showed daily life in Vice City and the wider state. Crowds and phones in that film are not an Online design doc.
What would change this page
A Rockstar or Take-Two sentence that dates a VI Online mode. A store SKU that sells “Online only.” A support article that lists Online as a day-one mode. None of those exist as of September 10, 2026.
PC is still unannounced, so there is no PC Online date either. Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are not launch platforms, so there is no last-gen Online SKU. Pre-orders that opened June 25, 2026 buy the story editions, not a secret Online key.
Is GTA 6 going to have online at launch? Not as a product Rockstar has dated. The story is dated. Online is not. We will keep those two sentences apart until a first-party post ties them together.
