Somewhere in another timeline, a GTA fan is already playing. In this one, an old release card appears in a feed and briefly makes the wait feel stranger. That is a familiar fan reaction, not evidence of a secret release or another delay.
The dates belong to different moments
The December 2023 announcement gave a 2025 window. The May 2025 update changed the plan to May 26, 2026, and the November 2025 announcement set November 19, 2026. An old screenshot can be genuine while superseded.
Ask when the original source was published, not only when someone reposted it.
Why waiting feels so crowded
An anticipated game attracts activity without new announcements: reactions, theories, purchase questions, remembered trailers and imagined features. All can be enjoyable fan conversation. The problem starts when conversation is packaged as a development update.
A theory remains a theory. A countdown reaching a round number is a calendar event. A community meme is a joke. None needs a fabricated source to be interesting.
Enjoy the wait without turning it into homework
Rewatch a favorite official video because you like it. Try a fan-made quiz, read a character profile or explore a region that interests you. A visit can be worthwhile even when the launch plan has not changed.
For a purchase or time off, return to the current official source. Fan enthusiasm and spending commitments should use different standards of evidence.
Our release-date guide is the standing reference; the timeline explains older dates. This essay discusses waiting, not another competing release prediction.

FAQ
Was GTA 6 originally announced for 2025?

Does an old official date screenshot mean another delay?
